The wasteful sprawl system was never sustainable. Now it is coming to a brutal end. Local taxes and utilities can no longer support the spread-out living of autosprawl and Wall Street has squeezed out whatever money was left.
The solution is to make urban buses fare free and stop subsidizing sprawl.

Silicon valley candidate calls for fare-free #publictransit
Today, as I run for Campbell City Council, many of the same bus lines that served my community when I was growing up have now been cut. That’s why we should not only be advocating expansion of service, but discussing how to make public transportation free.https://sanjosespotlight.com/lopez-make-transit-free-in-silicon-valley/

20,000 Dirty-drilling permits issued by Brown administration in California
There is nothing in the Paris Agreement about leaving fossil fuels in the ground. In fact, the words “fossil fuels” do not appear in the Paris Agreement.redd-monitor
Under Brown’s governorship, California has seen a huge expansion in oil drilling. Journalist Dan Bacher notes that,
Oil produced in California is some of the dirtiest and most climate-damaging crude oil in the world, yet there are currently no plans to ramp down extraction. In fact, during the Brown administration, more than 20,000 permits for new drilling have been issued.
