Placer County, CA, considering fare-free #publictransit

Free public transit could be coming soon to eastern Placer County, as the county Board of Supervisors today recommended moving forward with a program that will offer free fares for Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit bus routes in Placer County.

The wasteful sprawl system was never sustainable. Now it is coming to a brutal end. Local taxes and utilities can no longer support the spread-out living of autosprawl and Wall Street has squeezed out whatever money was left.

The solution is to make urban buses fare free and stop subsidizing sprawl.

Over the past two decades, the West Valley and North County have suffered the most in terms of VTA service, even as those areas see continued growth in employment and population. 20,000 Dirty-drilling permits issued by Brown administration in California

There is nothing in the Paris Agreement about leaving fossil fuels in the ground. In fact, the words “fossil fuels” do not appear in the Paris Agreement.
Under Brown’s governorship, California has seen a huge expansion in oil drilling. Journalist Dan Bacher notes that,

Oil produced in California is some of the dirtiest and most climate-damaging crude oil in the world, yet there are currently no plans to ramp down extraction. In fact, during the Brown administration, more than 20,000 permits for new drilling have been issued.
